MNOC is excited to announce that the club has begun using Livelox for post-race route analysis. Livelox is a service that lets you compare your orienteering races with fellow competitors. Record your route in real time using a mobile app, or upload it from your GPS watch afterwards. Once uploaded, Livelox automatically overlays your GPS track on your map and course, and allows you to play back your run, along with those of your friends and competitors, synchronized on the screen as if it had been a mass start. Livelox also allows analysis of individual legs among other features. Livelox is free and open to any participant.

In order to participate in Livelox-enabled events, you need 2 things:
  1. An account on the Livelox website (it’s free and easy to set up)

  2. A means of recording a GPS track of your event (see next section)

Routes can be added to Livelox in a few different ways:
  • By using the Livelox Recorder app or the Control app in your smartphone that you carry with you while you run. These mobile apps are available for both Android and iOS.

  • By synchronization with Strava. Workouts that are in your Strava account are automatically transferred to Livelox. A Strava account can in turn be connected to the app dedicated to your GPS watch.

  • By synchronization with Garmin Connect, Polar Flow, or Suunto. Workouts that are in these accounts are automatically transferred to Livelox.

  • By uploading a file in a GPX or TCX format. Download the route from your GPS watch after your workout. Create a file for the route that you upload to Livelox.

  • Drawing the route by hand in Livelox. If you don't have a smartphone or GPS watch you can draw your route directly with the mouse.

Note: if you do not want your routes to be automatically uploaded to Livelox, you can configure that in the corresponding apps. Routes can also be deleted from Livelox if an automatic upload did occur.
