Mosquitoes were a hassle in the woods, but a breeze kept them at bay in open areas. This year's event saw the advent of the "Regenold-Karpov Rule." In a previous rogaine in this location, the rule's namesake competitors chose to swim across a lake at the end of the race. This year, a canoe shuttle was added to that location for racers to use as a potential route choice.
