Overview

Come enjoy some great open prairie running through short grasses and climb a few hills through the woods at Afton State Park. There will be a full range of courses for orienteers of all ability levels!

Start/finish/registration will be at the visitor center by the main parking lot.

Courses

Regular Orienteering Meet with White/Yellow, Orange, Brown, Green, and Red Courses (All Skill Levels). To find out more about orienteering courses, see our Event Types page.

White Course 2.4 km, 7 controls

Yellow Course 2.7 km, 8 controls

Orange Course 4.3 km, 10 controls

Brown Course 3.6 km, 10 controls

Green Course 5.3 km, 12 controls

Red Course 6.7 km, 15 controls

Purchasing tip

Purchase each ticket in a separate transaction, to provide important details for the registrar. If you are orienteering as one group (i.e., one map, one e-stick), then you can buy a single ticket (one transaction) and add names on the registration form.

Location

The meet headquarters, start/finish will be at the visitor center by the main parking lot.

Afton State Park is located on the St. Croix River (Minnesota side) between the cities of Afton and Hastings. From 94, exit Manning Ave. Take Manning South about 7 miles to 70th St. Take 70th to the East and you will enter the park.​

Come Clean Leave Clean

The Minnesota Orienteering Club practices a Come Clean Leave Clean policy. This helps us maintain a good relationship with the parks we utilize, sets a good example for other users, and limits the transfer and spread of many of the plants that make our venues less enjoyable.
