A fun weekend of orienteering with 2 events (Massachusetts Score-O and Minnegoat) is set for October 2009 . This is the same location with the great terrain as used for the 1997 Veterans World Cup Orienteering Meet. This event is conveniently being held on the weekend before the US Championships in Wisconsin. Venue is Camp Ripley just south of Brainerd, MN Directions: From St Cloud, MN take US Hwy 10 north to State Hwy 371. Take State Hwy 371 for approximately 14 miles Camp Ripley is on the west side of the road. Proceed to main gate, check in with guard. Proceed to start area, which has yet to be determined. Approximate drive time from Mpls-St Paul is 2.5 hours. Schedule : Saturday, October 17th (day): Massachusetts Score O, Start window is 1PM till 3PM, Start/Finish area TBD Saturday, October 17th (evening): Pot luck Dinner, socializing, bunkhouse style overnight accommodations are available for a nominal fee. Sunday, October 18th (day): MinneGoat (a long distance O course with mass start , about 15 km), half length MinneGoat (about 8 km). Both events will start at 9AM, Start/Finish area TBD. We hope you will take advantage of this new service so that MNOC can better plan events and speed up registration on the day of the event. You and MNOC will not have to handle cash on the day of the meet, plus you can make sure that your name is typed in correctly in the results (rather than us having to attempt to decipher your handwriting on the punch card). This preregistration is accessed on the web site either from the Register for an Event link on the menu, or from the main event schedule (click on each event). Sign up now for one event - or many. Remember that you can add multiple registrations to your shopping cart and pay for them all at once.
The MNOC Board of Directors voted to standardize the start windows and course closing times for the 2006 season. The decision was based on our real world experience over the past few years, and took into account the actual number of participants in our events, the volunteer workload, and safety concerns relating to early sunset in the fall and winter months. The new schedule is as follows:
